Windows Partitioning    Right click on 'My Computer' on your desktop and select 'manage'  - an adminsitration window will open - select 'disk management' - the disk management window will open where you can resize partitions, create partitions, etc. . . . .multiple partitions will help eliminate data loss -  you can put your music, pictures, downloaded items, etc on a partition other than C: and if you ever have to reformat, you will not lose your data
