STEPHEN F. BUCHNER, 46, Cary, Dec. 18. Arrangements by Brown-Wynne Funeral Home.
STEPHEN FREDERICK BUCHNER, 46, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2005. He was born in Memphis, TN on August 6, 1959, grew up in Chattanooga, TN, and was a resident of Cary, NC. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.
Stephen was a graduate of Saint Dominic School for Boys in Memphis and the Baylor School in Chattanooga. He earned a B.S.E.E. in Electical Engineering and a B.S.E.E. in Computer Science from Duke University in 1981, and a M.S.E.E. in Electrical Engineering in 1985 from Duke University. He was employed in Cary, NC by Lord Corporation as a Senior Engineer in the Corporate Research and Development department for 22 years. He holds a patent through the corporation.
Stephen is survived by his wife of 21 years, Kathryn Nelson Buchner; his three children, Kristin Dorothy, Karl Frederick, and Carolyn Frances of Cary, NC; his parents, Dr. William F. and Dorothy H. Buchner of Chattanooga, TN; his brother, Dr. William F. Jr. and Paula Buchner along with nephew, William F. Buchner, III and niece, Mary Elizabeth Buchner of Georgetown, TN, brother J. Christopher and Jeanette Buchner of Leesburg, VA, and his uncles, Dr. Edward F. and Lois Buchner of Chattanooga, TN, R. Dean and Addie Hartley of Mayville, MI, Larry G. and Yvonne Hartley of Woodbridge, VA, great-aunt Mary Elizabeth Nailos of Waterloo, NY and many cousins.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, December 22, 2005, from 6 - 8 p.m., with a rosary service at 8 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home-East, 404 South Moore Rd., East Ridge, TN. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, December 23, at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Reverend Gilbert Diaz, Reverend Herbert Prescott, and Reverend Mike Nolan will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Stephen F. Buchner Memorial Fund at Wachovia Bank in Cary, NC.
